ENHANCING STUDENTS’ SPEAKING SKILL THROUGH LOOK AND SAY METHOD TO THE SEVEN GRADE AT SMP SWASTA SINAR HUSNI MEDAN

Abstract

This study aims to determine the improvement of students' speaking skill ability by using Look and Say method. This research is a Classroom Action Research (PTK). The subjects of this study were students of class VII of SMP Swasta Sinar Husni Medan. In collecting data, the researcher used the treatment in teaching for eight meetings. The researcher gave pretest and posttest to the students to find out the improvement of students' speaking skill ability after giving the treatment. The result of this study showed that the students' speaking ability improved significantly. This is evidenced by the completeness of student learning in the teaching and learning process in cycle I and cycle II. The post-test results in cycle I out of 32 students who completed 15 students (46.8%) were categorised as very poor and increased in the post-test of cycle II out of 32 students who completed 28 students (87.5%) categorised as very good.
