IMPROVING STUDENTS’ SPEAKING SKILL BY USING LTM (LISTENING TEAM MODEL) AT THE ELEVENTH GRADE OF MADRASAH ALIYAH SWASTA AL – WASHLIYAH 22 TEMBUNG

Abstract

The aim of this study is to investigate whether using LTM (Listening Team Model) significantly improves the students’ skill on speaking. This study was conducted by using classroom action research. The subject of this research was the eleventh grade students of Madrasah Aliyah Swasta Al – Washliyah 22 Tembung which consisted of 27 students. This research was conducted in two cycles. The first cycle consisted of three meetings and second cycle consisted of three meetings. The instrument for collecting the quantitative data was oral test or speaking test and the instrument for collecting the qualitative data were diary notes, observation sheets, interview sheets, and documentation. Based on the analysis, students’ skill was improved in every test. In pre–test, the mean score was 56.25. In post–test I in cycle I, the mean score was 70.74, and in the post test II in cycle II, the mean score was 83.77. Based on the observation sheets, diary notes, and interview sheets, it was found that the teaching learning process run well. The students were more active and enthusiastic working in group. It was concluded that LTM (Listening Team Model) could improve the students’ skill in speaking.
